Timo erupts! A 2-goal game vs. TBL on Thursday night.
TIMO TIME ARRIVED
Hey Everyone! It’s a quick one today because of the 5:30 PM pregame show start time and back-to-back games.
Man! Seeing Timo Meier bury a couple of goals against the Tampa Bay Lightning was highly reassuring. Timo personally needed those two meaningful goals because you could tell he was starting to get frustrated, and the pressure to produce was growing. Also, his underlying offensive stats were falling off the cliff fast, especially on the Power Play!
What was more encouraging than the fact that he scored two goals was seeing that one of them was a Timo Meier signature bomb from the right flank on the Power Play. And I talked about him explicitly needing to be moved to the flank on the PP during the pregame show with Erika and again right before he scored! The fact of the matter is he needs to be on the flank or net front and not in the blackhole,bumperposition, currently where he has found himself a lot with the Devils! We are talking zero goals for him all year in that position! That PP goal from the flank was money, and the Rock erupted!
We'll see if coach Ruffs keeps him on the flank tonight (they better!), as that would disrupt Jack's chemistry with Bratt for those east-west passes.
