Rangers vs. Devils | Pre-scout | Game #40

It was an extremely tough loss vs. the Blues on Thursday night. In a much-needed home win, the Devils surrendered their 2-1 lead allowing three unanswered goals after Jack Hughes scored his 23rd and 24th goal to tie the game at 1-1 and then gave the Devils the lead, 2-1.  Trailing 4-2, Captain Nico brought the Devils within one goal with eight minutes left in the third with a beautiful PP, tipped goal, but a Robert Thomas empty net goal sealed the Devils' fate with under a minute left to go, his second straight goal of the game.

Hughes led all skaters with 01:25 of OZ possession time, seven total slot shots on net, and 21 combined controlled Entries (12) and Exits (9).

Captain Nico's PPG was his 5th straight game registering a goal. Talk about getting it done in every situation; his five goals are as follows, two even-strength goals, two power play goals, and one shorthanded goal.

Jack has been monstrous this season, and the NHL's Hockey Ops department has taken notice, selecting him as one of the 32 All-Stars announced Thursday night. Jack is off to the best season of his young four-year career and is on pace for a 48-goal season! This is Jack's second straight All-Star selection.

Well, the Devils outplayed another opponent at home yet failed to score timely goals to make the game 3-1 for the Devils after Jack Hughes' back-to-back goals made it 2-1. Here are some overall stats I mentioned in the post-game. The Devils desperately need a home win against their arch-rivals!
