Hey, everyone!
We’re right back at it with a matinee at the Rock, where the Devils look to make it 8 in a row! Here are some of my thoughts heading into the first half of this highly anticipated home-and-home with COL.
I bumped into Dougie about an hour before warmups while he was getting a nice jog in around the old NJD locker room… and think I disrupted his pregame routine?!
You never know who's going to stop by or, in this case, run by #NHLNow. @NJDevils defenseman Dougie Hamilton was getting some work in before tonight's game and made a brief cameo during @BryceSalvador24's appearance on NHL Now. 😂 pic.twitter.com/5ZZU83Zd8u

Well, I guess it worked, because Dougie came out absolutely firing with 7 PP SATs and 2 PPGs in the second period alone, both of which tied his most in any game as a Devil. It was Dougie’s Multi-G game since Feb. 9, 2023, and his first Multi-G period since Dec. 10, 2016, w/ CGY.
Look, I’m not taking any credit for this - All I’m saying is I’ll make sure to be there extra early this morning in case Dougie calls looking for me 😂

All joking aside, the PP seems to have found its groove again, as the Devils have extended their PPG streak to 6 consecutive games (8/19; 42.1%). Yes, the PK's streak of 21 straight kills ended early in the game after a tough bounce, but it did its job the rest of the game, and the special teams as a whole continue to be outstanding. The Devils led the league with their historic, franchise-record-setting 110.9% combined PP+PK last season, and, well, they are right back at it this season. Entering tonight, the Devils are only the fourth team in NHL history to have a 125%+ combined special teams and multiple SHGs through their first 8 GP.

I hope you fans are just as excited as I am for this home-and-home set against COL. Yes, the Avs are winless in their last three (0-2-1), but make no mistake about it: These are two juggernauts going H2H, and COL is going to command the absolute best out of the Devils in each of these two games. It appears that 24-Y.O. Trent Miner will start between the pipes for COL, and this means the Devils are tasked with their second-straight game against a young, inexperienced goaltender. The Devils have to make him uncomfortable early. Encroach on his crease, throw everything at the net, and make him feel unsure of himself right from the onset. Let's make it 8 in a row!! 🔥

Join Rachel, Cory, and me for tonight's pregame show as we break down all of the different ways the Devils are winning and the two-game set against COL. It all starts at 6:30 p.m. on MSGSN!
