GM TOM FITZGERALD PULLS THE TRIGGER!
Well, Devils fans, the trade everybody was waiting for finally happened. General manager Tom Fitzgerald heard your "we want Timo" chants vs. PHI, pulled the trigger, and acquired Timo Meier. Going back the other way was Fabian Zetterland, Andreas Johnsson, Nikita Okhotiuk, Shakir Mukhamadullin, the Devils' 2023 1st round pick, [Conditional], 2024 2nd round pick [Conditional], and their 2024 7th round pick.
I'm most relieved about the fact that Timo is "excited" and "honored" to join the Devils and wants to help this team win games and make some noise in the playoffs. The 26-year-old winger is a 3x 30 goal scorer with 31 goals in 59 games this season and is expected to boost the overall offense and the much-needed power play (he has 13 PPGs). Timo fits perfectly into coach Ruff's system bringing a gritty high-paced style who lives in the blue paint. Most critical, when all is said and done, is that he does have the speed, skill, and IQ to play with Jack Hughes or Nico Hischier as his centers. He will be a prominent puzzle piece for the Devils' playoff push.
